"Ohio" protest song

"Ohio"

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

"Ohio" is about a shooting that took place at Kent State University in 1970. Nixon sent the National Guard to stop a protest. The National Guard shot into the crowd killing four innocents. The song "Ohio" is protesting the governments tactics of killing innocents because they are following their first amendment rights.

Woman's equality in 2010

I believe woman are equal to men in 2010. Women have every opportunity that men have, and are not discriminated towards by almost 90% of people. There will always be stereotypes whether its woman, African Americans, or any other race or sex. People will always try to make it seem like there is no equality by pointing out those stereotypes who live today, such as the housewives. People will point out those who fall under the stereotypes in order to make it seem like there is no equality. There will always be women who would rather be stay at home housewives than workers. However, there are stay at home men while the woman is bringing in the money for the family. So it works both ways, which makes it equal.

JFK Field Trip Reflection

1) Three things I learned about JFK that I did not know prior are how he was involved in the Bay of Pigs Invasion, his tough decision on what to do about the Cuban Missal Crisis and how close he brought us to Nuclear War, and how he did not help a lot for the Civil Rights Movement while he was first elected.

2) The most interesting part of the trip was the story of how he gave a local of the island a coconut in order to get him and his rescued after his PT Boat sank.

3) The field trip would have been a little better if they talked more about the entire Kennedy family rather than just Jack and his election period.

4) I do not believe that JFK deserves to be considered one of the best presidents of all time. The most he did as president was stop us from Nuclear War, but even that was a very close call and he was more lucky that nothing happened than anything else. Also, I do not think he would have even won presidency if his father did not throw in so much money, and he was not a womanizer. He only won the presidency by a couple thousand votes too, so the run was very close. I do like Jack Kennedy himself, just not his ideals or the way he won his presidency or even the reason he ran for president.

Butter Battle

So the stood on the wall
trying to decide if they should drop the ball.
They stood and stood and stood
and neither of them would.
They stood there forever
and would never ever
drop the ball on the other side
for fear that they would die.
